Partnering with Purpose: Spotlight on Skilled Purpose and Our Growing Collaboration

At our February Dinner Meeting, members had the opportunity to hear from Vinnie English about an inspiring new initiative—Skilled Purpose, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting skilled tradespeople with meaningful ways to give back to their communities while continuing to grow professionally.

Since then, we’ve taken meaningful steps to support their mission. We’re excited to announce that Skilled Purpose has been selected as the beneficiary of our upcoming Golf Tournament Raffle, helping raise essential funds for their launch and programming. In addition, we’ve recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the organization, laying the groundwork for a collaborative effort to support tradespeople and employers alike across Cape Cod and beyond.

As part of this growing partnership, we’ll soon be offering an info session to help members better understand how Skilled Purpose works, including the thoughtful safeguards being built in to protect and support participating employers. These protections aim to ensure that companies who get involved feel confident and supported every step of the way.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for a way to get involved now, check out Yale Appliance’s fundraiser for Skilled Purpose, happening this month. They’ve shared a tool list outlining the basic supplies students need to begin building their own tool belts. One idea is for companies to sponsor a student by helping them gather these tools. Another option is to donate gently used tools—like an old saw or drill that’s collecting dust in the shop. All contributions are tax-deductible, and charitable donation receipts are available.

We’re thrilled to be part of this effort to build a stronger, more purpose-driven trades community—and we invite you to be part of it too.
