HBRACC Member Spotlight: Robert Kaner Interior Design Featured in The Wall Street Journal

We’re thrilled to celebrate one of our talented HBRACC members — and recent BRICC Award winner — Robert Kaner of Robert Kaner Interior Design, whose exceptional work was recently featured in The Wall Street Journal. The article highlights the stunning transformation of a historic Provincetown beach house into a refined, year-round coastal residence — a true testament to craftsmanship, creativity, and the timeless charm of Cape Cod design.

The project, located on one of Provincetown’s iconic “floater” homes — historic cottages originally moved by barge across the harbor in the 1850s — presented a unique opportunity to blend preservation with modern luxury. Homeowners Craig Smith and Ian Bruce had enjoyed their seaside getaway for years before deciding to fully reimagine it. They entrusted Kaner with bringing their vision to life, and the result is nothing short of remarkable.

Over the course of a three-year, $2 million renovation, Kaner’s thoughtful approach honored the home’s architectural roots while introducing sophisticated, livable style. Every detail — from the natural materials and serene palette to the layered textures and artful furnishings — reflects Kaner’s signature balance of elegance and warmth. What began as a simple summer retreat has become a comfortable, year-round home that celebrates Provincetown’s character and creativity.

In the Wall Street Journal piece, Smith noted that as their lifestyle evolved, so too did their appreciation for Provincetown’s community and history — and their home needed to reflect that. With Kaner’s expertise and deep understanding of coastal design, they achieved exactly that: a space that feels both grounded in tradition and refreshed for modern living.

We’re proud to see our HBRACC members continuing to earn recognition for the quality and artistry that define Cape Cod’s homebuilding and design community. Congratulations to Robert Kaner Interior Design on this well-deserved national spotlight!
