Help Rebuild Jamaica

Have friends and colleagues here on the Cape with family in Jamaica and want to give back? Here are a few resources:

  • NAHB's partner organization that specializes in rebuilding, World Vision is a large international NGO focused on distributing building materials and is currently responding to the impacts of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica. They typically coordinate larger product donations from companies, though their ability to manage smaller shipments depends on the specific materials needed.
  • All Hands & Hearts - Based Mattapoisett, their teams are on the ground in Jamaica actively distributing food and essential supplies, setting up internet connectivity hubs, and preparing cleanup and recovery operations to support families and communities in need.
  • Team Rubicon - US-based veteran-led disaster response non-profit. They are currently in Jamaica with their volunteers coordinating with local authorities to provide medical and Water Sanitation, and Hygiene assistance as well as supporting feeding operations.
  • World Central Kitchen- Works with local partner organizations to begin serving meals to families impacted by the storm.
  • Global Empowerment Mission / Good360 - These are actually two separate organizations that have partnered on Hurricane Melissa relief in Jamaica. They both specialize in collecting, organizing, and shipping goods from the US to local organizations in need.
  • Information Technology Disaster Resource Center - The truly unsung heroes of disaster response both in the US and abroad. ITDRC specializes in IT and communications support for communities impacted by natural disasters. Their team is currently working with both the Jamaican government and local municipalities to get communications up and running in the hardest hit areas.
  • Locally, several groups are responding. There is a go-fund-me account, and donations are being accepted at an Eastham drop-off and at the Cordial Eye in Hyannis.
