As Massachusetts looks ahead to its next gubernatorial election, a recent poll reveals a clear message from voters: economic realities are driving decisions more than party lines.

Reducing housing costs topped the list of concerns, with nearly one-third of respondents citing it as the most urgent issue. Close behind was the call for tax relief, showing that financial pressures—from rising home prices to high rent and tax burdens—are being felt across all regions and generations.

Notably, younger voters are especially impacted. Almost half of Gen Z participants identified housing affordability as their top priority, highlighting the growing challenge of retaining young professionals in the state.

While recent policy efforts have attempted to address these issues, voters appear to be looking for more meaningful solutions. As MOA President Chris Anderson recently shared on WBZ, true progress will require aligning state spending growth with what families are experiencing in their everyday budgets.

The bottom line? Voters will be looking for candidates who can offer real answers to real economic challenges.
